Why do they do this in movies today?

So I have no idea why, but for some reason movie directors today feel
the need to get very clear detailed audio recording of the sound
people make when they're chewing. Does anyone know what I'm talking
about? You always have some random old rich dude sitting in front of a
meal, then he starts eating, and you hear a very loud, clear, NIBBLE
NIBBLE MUNCH CRUNCH SLURP SUCK SWALLOW CRUNCH CRUNCH CHEW MUNCH SLURP
NIBBLE NIBBLE.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?????? IT ANNOYS THE FUCK OUT
OF ME!!!!!!!
